Services are not covered by Alberta Health Services, however psychological services may be covered in full or in part by your extended health insurance plan. Please check your coverage carefully by asking the following questions:
- Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
- What is the coverage amount per therapy session
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?
Psychological expenses are also considered tax deductible medical expenses.
Reduced Fee/Sliding Scale
Reduced fee services and sliding scales are available on a limited basis.
Cash, cheque, and all major credit cards are accepted for payment.
Payments are made at the end of each counselling session. Upon payment, a receipt will be provided to you. Based on the terms of your health policy, you may submit such receipts to your insurance carrier for reimbursement.
Estimates for psychological assessments are provided during the initial consult. A retainer may be required at your first psychological assessment appointment. Invoices for assessments will be provided at the debriefing appointment upon completion of the assessment. At this time, the balance owing will be due.
Cancellation/No show policy
Attendance at scheduled sessions is a measure of investment in goals of both the therapist and the client. Research suggest that those who are motivated and participate in their therapy are more likely to view therapy as beneficial and make positive treatment gains.
Further, when an appointment is booked, that time is specifically kept aside for you and we do not double book appointments. Therefore, keeping these factors in mind, Odyssey Psychological Assessment and Counselling Centre has a 48-hour cancellation policy. Barring any emergencies, a 48-hour cancellation policy applies. If an appointment is not cancelled within the notice period, the time will be billed at the session time reserved. Please note, most insurance companies do not generally reimburse the cost of such late cancelled or missed appointments and therefore the invoice will be your responsibility. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in the this process.
